Virginia Heather
I stumbled across this book on Amazon and it looks like it might be an interesting/engaging/enjoyable supplement to our American history study (my boys are 6 & 8). Have any of you read it, and if so, what did you think? And did your kiddos like it? Does it have any sort of religious or political bias? Thanks! Michelle T
or I guess you could even use it as a very light spine for US history studies. Each "story" is very brief, just a few pages. There is no particular religious or political slant, at least not that I noticed. I really enjoy the way American Story covers both "major" topics, and also many lesser topics that I would never have heard of otherwise. Very enjoyable book, a great read-aloud for your younger kids. Michelle T
dragons in the flower bed
It is pretty secular, maybe a humanistic bent if any at all. One story, I recall, tells about the Hopi rebellion against the Catholics and is clearly cheering for the Hopi. Each story stands alone from the next, is illustrated with peaceful and engaging color sketches, and takes a page or three and fifteen to twenty minutes to read. It is an excellent supplement. I wish she had been more careful about including all of the most commonly told stories, so that we could use it as a spine.

WABeth
It has been a great supplement for SOTW 3 and 4. It allows us to add in more American History stories along with our romp through world history. Both my dds (9 and 6) enjoy it.
