American Freshman Survey: Money Plays A Role In College Selection

Recommended Posts

Yes, this is what I'm hearing locally.  I know of several who got into their first choice, but are going to the CC with guaranteed admission agreements because it will cost less in the long run even if they pay full price the last two years.

My oldest had one major she wanted and one college she looked at. She went despite the loans.

My second had two possible colleges, one a much higher preference than the other.   However, the second one offered her full tuition and the first would have required $10-12K per year.   She was going to take the second, until someone chose elsewhere and freed up a full tuition scholarship for her there as well.   Then she jumped to first choice in a big hurry.    :)     But money would have been the deciding factor for her.
