jenn-
How long does it usually take for your doctor's office to let you know? Do they wait until they get all the results before calling or do they call one at a time?
Tap
Our office posts them to the online account as they trickle in and the doctor makes notations on them. I get a call once they are all in and any are out of the normal range. I get a letter if they are all normal in a few days after they all come in. umsami
If they find something that requires follow-up, they'll call when they get it in usually. For most of my tests, it takes about a week. Some labs are quicker, and if it's something critical, your doctor would have most likely put a rush on the results.
magnificent_baby
Usually 3-4 days is normal, IME. My office recommends to call them on Friday in case they've gotten busy. My Mom had very abnormal lab work and her doctor called her the very next day. In general, no news is good news (but of course always follow up and ask for a copy just to be sure something wasn't overlooked).
jenn-
Thanks for the replies. I had some routine blood work (iron, cbc, cholesterol) to set a baseline in with a new doctor's office. I have no idea how they are going to treat the results but I will give them until the end of next week before calling.
