Maria from IN
I took my son to various cultural nights at our local university. Indiana State University has African Global Night, Saudi Global Night, Indian Global Night, Chinese New Year, Hispanic Global Night, etc. These usually bring speakers and performers that are famous in their home country to share their lives with us. solascriptura
Everybody sing: It's a small world after all! Can I just say, that is my favorite ride at Disney world! All the different dolls dressed in different cultural costumes? Beautiful!

solascriptura
Of course, lessons of different cultures help. However, I think, if you can, getting to know families of different cultures helps a lot. It's more of a feeling that, " hey you do different things, but you aren't that different from me." For me, I don't want my kids to feel that people from different cultures are foreign and strange. I am not from this culture. I am proud of my background and culture, but I am also not a museum exhibit. KWIM?
