Uff Da!
I have two small windows that give decent light and would like to plant something edible. For those of you who have done this, what plants work well?
OrganicAnn
The problem with windows is that they can get very hot when the sun is shining and cold when it isn't, so generally they are not a good place for most plants. Most people plant herbs - chives, basil etc.
Happy
I have basil in a south facing window in our home. We love basil. It loves heat and sun. In the past, I've kept rosemary, chives, bay, and cilantro in pots through the winter. Now I have rosemary and chives that survive outdoors. I find using a good sized pot helps--holds more moisture for a little longer so the plant is not dealing with flood or drought each week. It's a fun thing to have fresh, green, and growing plants nearby when the outside world is cold and gray.
