A credit card is more convenient and can have a negative cost. You can easily keep track of charges etc. If you are opposed to credit cards, you can make many online payments with Paypal and some vendors, who will debit your bank account directly if that's what you want. However, then you have to know your balance at all times, or keep a big cash balance that could be earning interest somewhere else. If you are disciplined enough to pay off your balance every month, you don't need to follow everything to the penny all month like you would with a debit card.
