Gwen in VA
Is it possible to find a copy somewhere/anywhere of the Common App recommender forms? All of dd's recommenders opted to do the recs online, but several are having issues logging in, and one has lost the email that was sent. The recommenders AND the colleges are all okay with the recs being submitted hard copy, but these folks do not have a copy of the Common App rec form to work from. Any ideas of where to look to find the forms????? Or are the forms a deep dark secret....? (Did the same folks that did the healthcare.gov site do the Common App?) Janice in NJ
Hi Gwen, https://appsupport.commonapp.org/link/portal/33011/33013/Article/83/Completion-of-recommendations Last Paragraph: If your counselor or teacher prefers to do the forms offline, you may leave the email address blank for that counselor or teacher. Once you leave the email field blank and add the recommender you will be able to download the recommendation form through the link provided in the application. Please download the form and provide to your recommender. Hope this helps. Janice
Gwen in VA
Unfortunately it doesn't help. Since the recommenders all wanted to do the forms online, they went into the system as doing it online. Therefore dd doesn't have access to those forms! Dd decided to be adventurous and delete a recommender and reenter the person, trying to get around the issue, but the lovely CA just gives her error messages now...... She cannot delete a recommender and start fresh, apparently. <bangs head against wall> I have visions of thousands of talented seniors this year ending up at community colleges because they couldn't get the Common App to behave! William and Mary just pushed its ED deadline back a week, saying that the CA was causing issues for both the students (duh!) and for the college itself -- according to the article, W&M is having issues accessing submitted applications! Janice in NJ
Hmmmm..... Try adding a school - one that she doesn't plan to complete an application for. Add a recommender. Someone new. Omit the email address. See if you can print the form. Maybe? Janice
Janice in NJ
Try re-adding the person with a different name (add middle initial) and a different email address. I've heard that works. Janice
Gwen in VA
Since the problematic recs are all "optional" and not required, in a worst case scenario she will delete the recommender from the CA and just have the person mail in a rec not using the form. I thought that the hard part of the college app process would be listening to my senior hyperventilate over essays, not sweating with her over a stupid website! Teachin'Mine
Gwen, couldn't you list yourself as a teacher? Then you could access the recommendation form and send it to them. Just a thought.
