SnMomof7
Hi All! I need an experienced CLE mom to help me with some questions! I started my 7-yo on the last half of LTR (106). We're in 108 now and LA 103. So my questions are: 1. To get a full phonics program do I need to do Reading 1 and 2 after LTR, or just LA 1 and 2? 2. Is the spelling in LA 2 mainly phonetic? I know it's entirely phonetic in LA 1, but in LA 4 and up, the spelling is more topical and not phonetic at all. When does it change from phonetic to lists of words about Thanksgiving? Thanks! welovetoread
Hi there, I am hoping I cn answer your questions. I think LtR and LA1 with the reading 1 complete the full learn to read. We have not used reading 2. CLE 2 is still phonetic and LA 3 begins to be more topical in my opinion.
lorisuewho
I would probably start by ordering Reading (to Learn) 1 and Language Arts 1 to finish off the first grade series. Some people (obviously not all) don't find their phonics approach a good fit for their children. I would wait to order grade 2 just in case. But if you really loved LTR, you probably will like the program as it progresses!
SnMomof7
Thanks! We are in LA 1 right now, I'm liking it so far :). So, it sounds like I should def. order the I Wonder materials then once we're done with LTR in order to get the full program.
lorisuewho
It is definitely a solid program! I'm glad you are liking it.
