CLE Reading...should DD 8th grade go back to lower level to catch up...

DD did LL 7 last year but there wasn't nearly as much material covered there as seems to be in CLE Reading.

 

She is a good reader, so that is not an issue.

If you are, then I would do CLE 7 and 8. Keep in mind that this program uses short stories and poems and that each level above 4th grade covers only a semester. For that reason, some folks do one semester of CLE reading and another covering several novel studies. I like that combination and will probably use it down the road with my younger one. Both of mine currently do both CLE reading and their Sonlight readers.

Well, I was hoping to work in LL 8 ..or at least some of it in addition to CLE.

 

So, in that case, should I go with CLE 8? Will she lose out on things she missed in CLE7 ?

The levels do review previous material. Yes, CLE reading 7 covers much more than LL&C 7.

 

My older ds used CLE reading 7 (for the first time) the second half of his 7th grade semester and CLE reading 8 in grade 8 spread over the year.
