pjssully
Hi, I have a friend who has requested help in looking for help finding a science program for a 8th grader. This 8th grader wants a text, with tests. She is not advanced in any way, just very average, and will be going to high school next year. No Abeka or Apologia, though. I had recommended Science Fusion but they don't want computer type of text book. I really would like some help since they are going through a rough time with their marriage and finances and I just don't know where to direct them. Thanks so much! pam
foxbridgeacademy
I would think if she's just looking for a Science overview, what I would do is pick up 1 or two of the prentice Hall "subject" books from each discipline (Earth, Life, Physics). PH has done something kind of neat (IMO)when they sectioned these out. Your friend could get 2 from Life, 2 Physical/ and 2 Earth. I would buy them on EBay. I just bought 3 of the Life books (for my nephew) it cost around $12 total. I think I may be confusing you so here is a couple links. Search Prentice Hall Science Explorer (again, I would look at eBay, or only at used on Amazon.... these books are not worth the new price) http://www.amazon.com/PRENTICE-SCIENCE-EXPLORER-CHEMICAL-BUILDING/dp/0131150960/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1377436103&sr=8-3&keywords=prentice+hall+science+explorer http://www.amazon.com/PRENTICE-SCIENCE-EXPLORER-STUDENT-EDITION/dp/0131150995/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_z http://www.amazon.com/PRENTICE-SCIENCE-EXPLORER-ELECTRICITY-MAGNETISM/dp/0131151002/ref=pd_sim_b_3 http://www.amazon.com/SCIENCE-EXPLORER-STUDENT-EDITION-ASTRONOMY/dp/013365110X/ref=pd_sim_b_6 http://www.amazon.com/SCIENCE-EXPLORER-STUDENT-EDITION-INSIDE/dp/0133651053/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_y http://www.amazon.com/SCIENCE-EXPLORER-STUDENT-EDITION-ENVIRONMENTAL/dp/0133651045/ref=pd_sim_b_4 http://www.amazon.com/SCIENCE-EXPLORER-STUDENT-EDITION-HEREDITY/dp/0133651029/ref=pd_sim_b_3 This is only a few of them. I think there are at least 15, maybe 18 total? You can buy Workbooks (overpriced and really not needed) and a Lab book for each discipline. A lot of people who want to stick to P.S. style science use these. Ok, hope I wasn't too confusing ;)
