Lucy Posted August 12, 2013 Share Posted August 12, 2013 My dd is in 8th and is interested in Computer Science. I saw that there was a semester course at K12, but it was so expensive! AK_Mom4 Posted August 12, 2013 Share Posted August 12, 2013 DS17 did a year-long course in 8th grade using "Learning to Program with Alice". It was a really fun intro to object-oriented design and programming. The Alice software. is free and I bought the book used from Amazon for a few dollars. This year, he is doing AP Computer Science from NDCDE. Not a cheap course at all, but he has gone as far on his own as he cares to using "Teach Yourself xxxx" books and wanted to do a course with an instructor since he plans to studies CS in college.
