sbgrace
Does anyone have thoughts on K readiness programs like this? I'm just curious. A child who doesn't score well on a spring readiness test (reading and math) prior to starting public school K is able to enroll in a summer program prior to their K year. This program is no cost to the parent. The program seems to improve the testing scores (score improvements from 2-6 percent this year it appears). Here is a quote from a recent news article about the success of the program. I also saw a big improvement in behavior, learning the routines of school,†Meyer said. “Most of these kids hadn’t even been to preschool. Thoughts? Leav97
I think it can be helpful for kids that haven't been to preschool. It mostly helps with the adjustment in the first 1-2 months of school. The one closest to us is a 2 week morning program where they learn the routine, meet the teachers, make some friends, and start the first 2 weeks of academics.
