phathui5
My 12 year old ds is most of the way through Saxon 8/7 and will be doing Key to Algebra next (at his request). What is a good next step after Key to Algebra?
wapiti
Are you looking for an Algebra 1 text?
AngieW in Texas
Key to Algebra is a pretty basic Algebra I program. It has more depth to it than MUS though and goes farther than MUS as well. If he's a STEM student, I would recommend doing a more in-depth Algebra I after Key to Algebra. If you are looking for a solid Algebra I program that is gentle for younger students, Jacobs is usually recommended for that and it is a solid program. kiana
After successfully completing Saxon 87 and Keys, pretty much any solid Algebra program should be next.
dereksurfs
There are many, many Algebra 1 options. Much depends on him and how he learns best as well as his goals. Why don't you have him look at the various programs with you and try out some of the free demos/samples etc... Since this is your first child going through Algebra it wouldn't hurt to have a few references around anyway. Some of the classic texts can be found for pennies on the dollar used such as Foerster and Dolciani. We picked up both. If he's STEM inclined AOPS is also worth considering. The have free samples of their text, free videos and Alcumus to check out. If he likes video instruction TabletClass and Derek Owens are great options as well. Foerster combined with Math without Borders lessons is another very solid option.
