My son is taking his Eagle Project proposal to the district committee this evening. Does he need to wear his MB sash or can he wear his OA sash? Does he need to wear a sash at all? My older boy and I cannot remember which sash he wore to the same meeting a year ago (I can claim old age brain, but not sure what's wrong with the 18 yos brain :) )

Yup- my 3 Eagles wore their MB sashes. One of them had an OA sash but didn't wear it. It may very depend on what your district people expect. Best wishes to him- it can be a nail biter. I know- we have one more to go.

MB sash--no doubt. It is NOT an OA function. Whatever he does, do NOT hang the MB or the OA sash off his belt!!! If he is already 18yo, he does not wear the MB sash. Actually, in that case, he would not wear his Life patch either. I hold regular EBoR (I'm the DAC) and I'd hammer any boy who wore his OA sash.

This hanging-off-the-belt is common practice in my son's troop, at least for regular meetings (OA sash worn, MB sash tucked in belt). They do wear their MN sashes at CsOH. I had no idea it was so frowned upon! He will soon be doing his Eagle project proposal so this is good to know. Thanks, Margaret.

According to OA rules, the OA sash is only to be worn at official OA functions (including OA troop elections).

It is common practice to wear it to reg scout meetings folded from the belt- not to EB though!
