EmilyGF
If I want some hand-holding for a 2nd grader for "literature study", which would you choose? I know others exist. Progeny Press... any others? I am a Christian. Thanks, Emily

WIS0320
We are using the 2nd grade MP guides. *I* like them a lot, my 7 year old 2nd grader hates them. They are very good at measuring comprehension as well as helping children hone in on vocabulary. They are dry but solid, if that makes sense. Esse Quam Videri
I haven't seen the MP lit guides, but have attempted to use a few VP lit guides with a second/third grader. I don't think they are worth the time, honestly, and I sold.gave away the ones I had (Baby Island, Homer Price, Grimms Fairy Tales). They are mostly short answer review worksheets and a few projects that relate to the book.
Blessed mom
I have used both the VP and the MP literature study guides. MP is by far my favorite. I love them. MP suggests asking the student the question, then allow him or her to respond orally. Write the response on the board and allow him or her to copy it. I think the MP guides are very thorough. However, if you want project ideas VP has those included. I think the VP guides have a set of comprehension questions and a project to go along with each chapter.
