Lori
can someone tell me which is better or I should say what is the difference? I am teaching a co op 4-5 grade we are doing 15 weeks of IEW , SWI Level A and then I want to use either Writing trails or US history based writing lessons any input would be great thanks Lori
PeterPan
Have you seen the online lessons for SWI A? They're free on IEW's website. I don't recall how many weeks it expands the SWI to, but maybe it would be enough to fill your year?
Wendi
Huge difference between the two! Writing Trails contains brief narratives. For each narrative, there are vocabulary words and room to do a key-word outline. The student rewrites the narrative in his own words using his key-word outline. U.S.-History Based Writing Lessons is much more complete, containing lessons on dress-ups and a wide variety of writing assignments correlating to the units in TWSS (narratives, research reports, essays, poetry, critiques, etc.), as well as vocabulary.
