lisabees
Ds and I spent a lot of time on a Hobbit study before the holidays. He loved it. Besides reading the book, we used Garlic Press, listened to The Tolkien Professor lectures, made hobbit food, learned about Tolkien and philology and cartography and Norse mythology etc. We both had a great time. Now I'd like to follow up with something just as exciting. I am just not in the mood to do more Tolkien. Any other ideas?
momto2Cs
Do something similar with Jules Verne or Mark Twain, maybe?
lisabees
Do something similar with Jules Verne or Mark Twain, maybe? Thank you. Both are on this year's lit list; I am not sure why I didn't consider them! The obvious choice is Around the World in 80 Days. I needed to fit more geography in our days, and I've been telling him that he has to watch the Michael Palin documentary soon! Now, if you know of any good resources, please let me know! You could do a great comparison of the book and the Palin documentary. Here's a link to a homeschool study someone put together.

Thank you for that link. I was hoping it would offer more details. I can't even find a good lit guide for Around the World. Why can't I ever do something easy?!
