sbgrace
I have a child with new onset of cough variant asthma. Pulmonology started him on Singulair. If two weeks went by and it wasn't enough to control it we were to start a lowish dose of inhaled steroid. He has had an asthma cough with two viruses since starting singulair. One was mild (just a nebulizer albuterol before bed one night and the next morning took care of it). Now he has a nasty virus (with 101 fever yesterday). He needed the albuterol every 4 hours for a little over 24 hours though we haven't had any asthma since that point. Is it considered controlled if albuterol takes care of the viral asthma within a day or so?
Dana
I'd check with the pulminologist and see what their answer is. You could try another week and see if it's controlled without a virus affecting things.
Joker
For us, it would be considered controlled. They would up meds or change them when the illnesses would linger and the problems would become worse and need steroids.
