lisamarie
I have been having PVCs and had a holter monitor test that confirmed it. My dr ordered an echocardiogram just to get a baseline in case things got worse. My echo showed a mild enlargement of my left ventricle and I am being referred to a cardiologist. What does this mean??? I did some basic internet searching and the main cause seems to be high blood pressure, but I've only ever had that when pregnant (preeclampsia) and then it returns to normal. It sounds like I will just be put on BP meds and then monitored from my internet reading, but I really have no clue. This sucks. Any BTDT experience with this and what treatment you had? lisamarie
Bahahaha!!! Um, no.    Though I wish that were the reason. I read that as one of the causes, but not mine.
unsinkable
:grouphug: My DH wants to know if you have baseline PVCs all the time or only if you're excited or nervous or anxious? He said you might be sent for a electrophysiology referral and a TEE (transesophagial echo.) DH works in a cardiac cath lab. He's not a doctor. lisamarie
My holter monitor said I had 4957 PVCs in 24 hours. So averages out to 3 a minute. I have them even when sleeping.
Tracy in Ky
Hi Lisa :) I'm a fitness writer, so I've studied and written about this. I'm NOT a medical professional by any stretch of the imagination though. ;) What I've learned is that a very common cause of your condition is high blood pressure. You might be able to reverse the thickening by reducing your blood pressure. There are several things you can do to lower your blood pressure such as consistent exercise, weight loss and reducing salt. This article may help. :grouphug:
unsinkable
DH says it could be YOUR baseline, KWIM? He says they see people w/more PVCs than that which is normal for them. He said keep your follow up appt. and avoid stimulants, like caffeine. And don't worry too much!
