Sharon H in IL
My older son just got volume two of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and he's so engrossed in it he can't be bothered to listen to our current bedtime read-aloud "Journey to the Center of the Earth." Rather than have him miss a chapter, I decided to pull down an old favorite, a gigantic book of folk tales, edited by the wonderful Joanna Cole (of Magic School Bus fame). I read a Norwegian folk tale called "The Master Thief" that was so funny we were both holding our sides laughing. The youngest son goes to make his way in the world, and falls in with a band of robbers. He outwits them and everyone else he comes across. The pranks are hilarious. And he marries the sweet and beautiful Squire's daughter and they live happily ever after. Ahhhh. Nite nite.

Nestof3
We love folktales here! Anansi stories have been some of their favorites. We also love fables and fairy tales. We've been listening to some Rabbit Ears on CD -- Aladdin, Five Chinese Brothers, etc. on the way to swim lessons. Oh, tall tales have been a hit too! WTMindy
We love folk tales here too. In fact, on our last trip my dd took a huge volume of Grimm's Fairy Tales along and had fun reliving some of our favorites.
