katilac
We are taking my parents to the dog track next month for my dad's birthday, and we will spend one night there. I know there are things to do in the city, like the battleship and so on, but is there anything that is very close to the dog track? My kids are coming on the trip, but not to the track (too young). If there's something very close, like shopping or a movie theatre, I figure dh and I can keep trading places - one of us with the girls, one of us at the track, rinse and repeat. Oh, hotel ideas would be good, too! Nothing super nice needed, just clean, comfy, and safe.
celticmom
The track is not really in the city per se. It is in the Theodore/Tillman's Corner area. I can't really think of anything extremely close but the track is close to the interstate.

That's what I feared. *sigh* The good thing about the horse track here in New Orleans is that you can WALK to fifty interesting places from there. celticmom
It is pretty far away but the exploreum is generally fun. There is alot more to do downtown such as museums and Ft. Conde.

It looks very cool! We may not do it while the others are at the track, but possibly beforehand or the next day.
