boscopup
It's not "free". You can borrow it from the Kindle Library, but it's still $3.99 to purchase it. Just an FYI. :)
peepsmama
Yes, it looks like the offer has expired. It *was* free last night, but those offers usually don't last long. Edited August 31, 2012 by peepsmama

It was dated the 31st, which is today, so I figured it was today. :) Thanks for passing it along!
d.g.
The publisher's separate guides for Hobbit and LOTR are still free. I just "bought" both of them.
Amy in CO
It looks like they are free for prime members and $3.99 or $2.99 for regular members.

Well, I'm a prime member, but I had already borrowed my book for the month. They were free to purchase yesterday when I bought them. I guess the promo price ended some time after I got them. peepsmama
Yeah, those Kindle freebies are great, but they don't last long before they revert back to normal price.
boscopup
I managed to get the individual ones yesterday for free on my non-prime account (DH's is prime). I haven't looked at them yet, bit plan to for myself, as we've been reading that series and watching the movies. :)
