write shop vs. essentials in writing ?

for my slow 8yrs almost 9yrs old. She struggles with writing. She often keeps writing and, and, and and doesn't quite get what a sentence is still. She writes random things not really staying on topic. We have done WWE1 and FLL1/2.

 

I have given her writing prompts as specified by our charter school however it is like pulling to teeth to get her to write an organizer --we have to talk about it alot. I have to help her to think through things logically so her story makes some kind of sense. Things that are should be obvious and common sense doesn't seem to occur to her ....

 

 

So which writing program would be better for her writeshop or essentials in writng? Something that would break everything down -asking her questions in details to help her get her writing.

We tried Writeshop and it just didn't work here. I liked it, and will keep it for my other kiddo's...but for DD8 (sounds very similar to your DD) we are trying Writing Strands this year.
