2squared
I am planning a year of IEW before my rising 5th grader heads into WWS. She has completed WWE 1-3, and I am not really interested in WWE 4. I initially planned on using the TWSS to write across the curriculum for this year, but the more I think about it, the more I am intrigued by the SWIs. We work best with open-and-go programs that hold my hand, and I really, really like the idea of Pudewa keeping us on track. Dd seems to respond well to him too. So....if I return the TWSS program, would you recommend that I get SWI-A or SWI-B? If I go with A, I was planning on finishing the year with the last half of All Things Fun and Fascinating. We started it last year, but I just don't have the confidence....yet....to effectively teach it without more handholding.
mom2att
I did something similar and started with SWI-A. My boys were in 5th and 3rd at the time and though I was using it with both of them, it was predominately for the older one. I personally like going with a curriculum that's a little easier in order to build confidence, especially for the kid I was buying it for. We're still using it, and so far he likes it. I'm glad we went with A.
5LittleMonkeys
The levels are based on reading level. Level A is designed for grades 3-5. Even if your dc is an advanced reader I think it best to start with easy to comprehend models so your student can concentrate on learning the skills rather than trying to understand the model. I'd go with A. You can, as he becomes more familiar with the process, add in models at higher reading levels for extra practice, if you feel he needs more of a challenge.
