FlockOfSillies
Looking at Algebra I. I was all set to sign up, but I saw that the classes are asynchronous -- no class meeting time. I'm worried that my dd will always push this class to the bottom of her to-do list. Has anyone else with this kind of kid had success with his classes? I should add that we did Chalkdust Prealgebra this year, and she didn't really utilize the videos. She did much better when I stepped her through it. TIA. abbeyej
What if you just *establish* a class time for her? And make good use of Derek's syllabus -- it tells exactly what needs to be completed each week to stay on track for the year. Create consequences that come into play when she hasn't completed the week's work by Friday afternoon... ... But yes, you may need to check in with her regularly to make sure she is actually *doing* her work.

It was easy for me to keep track that ds was completing the assignments because they were returned to the both of us. Ds knew what he had to accomplish each week because of the syllabus. Well, actually, I put the lessons/hw/labs on his weekly assignment sheet for him, so he knew what he had to do each day.
