3andme
George Washington and the Founding of a Nation by Albert Marrin might be a good option. I haven't actually read this book but I've enjoyed several of Marrin's other books. They are definitely appropriate for this age group and he does a good job of making connections to historical events.

She loves Marrin's writing style (& so do I). In fact, I'd recommend any of his books--especially for boys. My dd is currently reading Marrin's book entitled The Secret Armies: Spies, Counterspies, and Saboteurs of World War II. Jennifer
