Vida Winter
I am finding so many paleo sites that list foods that you can't eat; is there a list of foods that you can eat? I am very good at putting together my own recipes, but I do need the right ingredients in the first place.

bbmom
I like this chart, as far as a quick reference goes- http://www.qcrossfit.com/2012/01/is-it-paleo/ Basically you can eat any meat or eggs, any vegetable or fruit, sweet potatoes, nuts (except for peanuts) and olive or coconut oils. I also believe all spices are fine, as are honey and maple syrup. Vinegars are almost all fine (except for one that is made from corn.) From there, things like almond and coconut flour, arrowroot powder, etc. Is also fine. Most paleo people will also allow some dark chocolate (as long as it is over 70%)
JumpyTheFrog
Here is Robb Wolf's Food Matrix. It's intended to help plan a main course, so fruit isn't listed.
Vida Winter
Thanks for the input - I am slowly getting it. Maybe. Can anyone explain why nuts are okay but peanuts are not okay? And is there any consensus on dairy? Is Greek yogurt acceptable in this diet, or butter/cream/half&half/milk?

I think what's important is how it affects you. I have no problem with dairy, and eat it regularly, mostly in the form of butter and cheese.
