Do dc need to take Chemistry in 10th for ACT?

Recommended Posts

The ACT does not test on science content. It tests "scientific reasoning" which is basically the ability to read and interpret scientific data in the form of charts, diagrams, and paragraphs. If you look at a practice test you'll see what I mean. Take your science classes whenever you wish in whatever order--the only tests you should consider are the AP or SAT II if applicable.

My ds has noticed in the past year or so that a few ACT questions do require previous knowledge of scientific terms or concepts. This seems to be a departure from the ACT's past practices, but we have ordered copies of his tests, and I have seen that a handful of questions on the newer tests cannot be answered without some prior knowledge.

It's still true that most ACT science questions can be answered without outside knowledge, by using the information provided in the test.
