Laura Corin
The Canon: a Whirligig Tour of the Beautiful Basics of Science, by Natalie Angier. The blurb says: 'The Canon is vital reading for... every parent who has ever panicked when a child asked how the earth was formed or what electricity is. Angier's sparkling prose and memorable metaphors bring science to life, reigniting our own childhood delight in discovering how the world works.." I am enjoying this book so much: it's clear, entertaining and filled with 'Now I get it!' moments. For the first time I understand, at an atomic level, the connection between electricity and magnetism, I really see how different kinds of chemical bonds produce materials with different properties..... I'm only half way through, but it's all making so much sense! Laura

Elinor Everywhere
After I looked at yours the other day at the playground, I put it on hold at the HK library. Looking forward to getting it and taking it with me to Phuket next week--beach reading! ;)
