Jane Elliot
I've been looking at old posts on Breaking the Spanish Barrier, and people seem completely split on this -- about half loving it and the other half hating it. We do have a native speaker for weekly tutoring sessions, but she doesn't have a curriculum. We need a high school level text to work with both daily and during the weekly sessions. sandalwood
It didn't work for us. We had a teacher at coop but I couldn't follow it at home. It was very hard for us to follow along with this. Edited March 30, 2012 by sandalwood
Matryoshka
I use it and like it. I think it's very straightforward to teach (unlike the public school texts that I honestly can't make heads or tails of). But I'm fluent in Spanish. If you have a tutor, I think it's a good grammar text (even the author extends it with speaking/writing/reading). There are speaking exercises/prompts aligned with the lessons free on the website. The author also gives ideas for other activities. Again, if you have a tutor, they probably also have other ideas for the other bits, but it has nice clear grammar instruction and sequence. 74Heaven
I use it and don't like it. I think it moves too fast and the students need more exercises to practice the new concepts. OTOH, my main gripe is the stupid references to Hispanic and U.S. pop stars and parents' / teens' music choices.

Okay, I hate that part. :tongue_smilie: We make fun of those and roll our eyes.
