Breaking the Spanish Barrier?

Recommended Posts

I've been looking at old posts on Breaking the Spanish Barrier, and people seem completely split on this -- about half loving it and the other half hating it.

We do have a native speaker for weekly tutoring sessions, but she doesn't have a curriculum. We need a high school level text to work with both daily and during the weekly sessions.

I use it and like it. I think it's very straightforward to teach (unlike the public school texts that I honestly can't make heads or tails of). But I'm fluent in Spanish. If you have a tutor, I think it's a good grammar text (even the author extends it with speaking/writing/reading). There are speaking exercises/prompts aligned with the lessons free on the website. The author also gives ideas for other activities. Again, if you have a tutor, they probably also have other ideas for the other bits, but it has nice clear grammar instruction and sequence.
