TXMary2
This year ds has been doing Apologia Biology along with Miller/Levine, with plans to take the AP Biology test in May. Next year he is moving on to Chemistry and again we will use Apologia and the AP Prep books, but I was wondering if there was a popular alternative Chemistry text out there that homeschoolers not using Apologia use. Lizzie in Ma
I don't know how popular it is, but we went with Spectrum Chemistry and were very pleased with it.
In The Great White North
If he's aiming at the AP test again, Chemistry: the Central Science by Brown or Chemistry by Zumdahl are common. And The Illustrated Guide to Home Chemistry Experiments.
AngieW in Texas
I'm using Tro's Introductory Chemistry, but I wouldn't use it if I was preparing for the AP test. Link to list of books that AP website recommends: http://www.collegeboard.com/html/apcourseaudit/courses/chemistry_textbook_list.html I've seen more favorable reviews of Brown and LeMay's Chemistry: The Central Science than of the others. I haven't actually used anything other than Tro's and it doesn't cover all the content necessary for the AP test because that's not what I was going for.
