coastal academy
My dd is doing Sing. 3A standards. I am wondering how I should use the practice and review pages that are in the textbook. She does the workbook independently. Would you recommend her doing these textbook pages independently as well on a separate sheet of paper, or are they designed for the student and parent to do together since they are in the textbook? Blessings! CS
Coffeemama
We do the review pages together. I like making sure they're on track. Also the amount on the page can be a little overwhelming. They are much happier working through them together on the whiteboard.
boscopup
I don't use them at all. :D I'm using the workbook review as our cumulative review/test to make sure material is fully understood. Otherwise, the problems he does by himself are the regular workbook exercises and the IP and CWP (with input from me if needed). Note that my son typically doesn't need a lot of review, so your child may need those practices/reviews in the TB, and that's totally ok! I'd use it however you want to use it. You're the teacher. ;)
Dana
My son does the workbook independently. We do the text reviews together. He does what he can orally and mentally and does scratch work as needed for other problems but can just say the answer rather than writing it out. I think there were some in 3 where I didn't feel he needed the review so we skipped some of the practice (addition/subtraction), but I err on the side of over practicing rather than under. (I use the analogy that I understood how to drive clutch but I still needed to practice until it was second nature!)
Crimson Wife
Depends on the child. My oldest doesn't use the workbook at all but just does the textbook (practices independently), CWP, and IP. The end-of-chapter reviews we do 1 semester behind on Fridays as a refresher. My DS has been doing Singapore in conjunction with Right Start B for now. However, I will probably transition him over to Singapore only once he finishes the subtraction section of RS C (though I might try Beast Academy once that comes out). I'm thinking of using the workbook with him starting at the 2A level. If I do that, I will probably save the textbook practices to do along with the reviews 1 semester behind. coastal academy
Thank you for your replies. I think we will do them together on the white board just to have some formal review together, maybe picking and choosing as she seems to retain everything very well. twoxcell
We use SM US Edition. I use the Practice and Review pages in the Textbook as a test for my ds. He writes on scratch paper. After I grade them we go over any that he misses together. I feel this gives me a good idea if he understood the material.
