Not looking for feedback...Just giving an example of a WWW lesson. We're obviously working on structure. And a disclaimer: I cannot verify the accuracy of her statements. She seems to know more about the Greek gods than I do. :tongue_smilie:

ZEUS & POSEIDON

by Abi, age 8

Zeus and Poseidon, two powerful Greek gods, share similar and different traits. The great Lord Cronus is the father of these two mighty, immortal brothers who have many strong, wise and bright children. Zeus resides on towering Mt. Olympus while Poseidon lives in the beautiful coral-filled sea. Poseidon proudly holds a gold trident but Zeus carries a massive bucket of terrifying thunderbolts. They both thrive on sweet nectar and ambrosia. Poseidon is god of the sea. In contrast, Zeus is the god of the heavens.

Zeus’ wife is Hera, the lovely goddess of marriage. Once, when Zeus demanded obedience from the gods, Hera created a daring plan. She convinced the other gods join a dangerous revolt against Zeus. She drugged Zeus with nectar and the other gods bound him to a couch with many strong, hard knots. Briareus overheard them talking so he slipped in and unbound the great Zeus who then furiously sprang from the couch and a lightening bolt appeared in his hands. The frightened gods begged for mercy. Hera’s punishment for the revolt was being chained to the sky. Finally, Zeus took her down and forced her to promise never to rebel again.

Unlike Hera, Poseidon’s wife, Amphitite, a granddaughter of the titan Oceanus, was not a goddess. One time Poseidon desired Demeter, the goddess of the harvest. Trying to shake him off, Demeter asked him to make the most beautiful creature the world has ever seen. To impress her, Poseidon created the first horse. His first attempts were unsuccessful. By the time the horse was created, his love for Demeter calmed down.

Zeus and Poseidon may have different and similar characteristics. However, they still reign as gods together.
