LAmom
Wondering if anyone "for fun" tests their children using state tests or something else? I may join a charter school here in CA next year and I heard they do require testing according to the state. I don't even know what those tests are and would kind of be a little curious as to how well my kids would do. Is there anything out there, free, that people use? Thanks! Homemama2
:bigear: I don't know of anything for free. We don't have to test, but I'm having them do it this year. Not for 'fun' necessarily, but b/c I think they need to be able to take one without it stressing them out. I think of it more as a prep for the SAT's someday. boscopup
Texas and Florida both have old tests (TAKS and FCAT) available online for free. Those might be useful to you. I haven't used them, so don't know how they compare to any other test. I don't have to test in my state, but we're going to try it out this year, just for grins. I'll probably use the SAT10 because that's what everyone uses around here. I'd prefer the ITBS, but haven't seen anyone in my area giving it, and I don't want to give a test myself because DS might try to depend on me. With the SAT10, I can at least take him to someone else and he can take the test with other students (a situation he's used to, since he was in school for a while, though he never took the SAT10... pulled him out before he got to take his first one). 5Wizards
You can find released test questions from old CA exams here by grade and subject: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/css05rtq.asp ETA: You can print out the pages for free and have your kids go through them if you want. jayb842
I give Texas state to ds to insure that he could stay with or a head of ps kids. My one our goals to pass the state test. He has passed the reading already this year! I have not tried the math.
