Making peanut butter....

Recommended Posts

When I'm in the mood I make our own peanut and almond butter. Almond is highly nutritious. The problem with roasted is that the "heat" has killed alot of the nutrients. Raw is best. HOWEVER, I've tried both and raw is VERY difficult to grind. It really does need a little oil where the roasted does not need that addition.

I can't remember b/c it's been awhile, but the Virginia boiled or something with a "b" from Trader Joe's.

Next, maybe cashew butter.

Have you tried chocolate peanut butter? I'd also like to try that.

I just use plain old raw Virginia peanuts. Sometimes I add a pinch of salt (literally a "pinch") and sometimes I don't. Toss them into the food processor and let 'em rip until they make peanut butter. The peanuts get warm enough in the processor to release enough oil to work - some other nuts require a tablespoon of good oil to get things going on.
