tuzor
I have an e copy of Aesop's Fables for about six months now. I am wondering how to incorporate it into our day. My major question is how do you handle the "bad" words that appear in some of the stories.
Negin
I've read Aesop's Fables to my dc for years. We have two different versions - not really the original, I'm sure, but nice editions all the same. I don't recall any bad words. You could always pre-read and filter out the bad words, I guess. The ones we have are these: http://www.amazon.com/Aesops-Fables-Jerry-Pinkney/dp/1587170000/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1319184413&sr=8-1 http://www.amazon.com/Aesops-Fables-Children-Read---Listen/dp/0486467708/ref=sr_1_9?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1319184436&sr=1-
IsabelC
Um, get a different version? I've seen a few and never spotted any words that would be offensive afaik in any of them. Or just bowdlerize on the fly (although once your dc are reading they may follow along and catch you out!)
Margo out of lurking
Um, get a different version? Joyofsixreboot
Um, other than another word for donkey ( which isn't bad if you use it for donkey) I don't remember any bad words. We us a free online version. My ds ate these up and still remembers most of them.
Violet Crown
Do you have a translation, rather than a version adapted for children? Some of the original Greek fables are pretty unsuitable for prime time.
