Patch a pumpkin with dent

Recommended Posts

We went and got a beautiful Cinderella pumpkin, along with others, and it fell out of the truck. It got a tear in the skin of it. Is there anything we can do so it won't mold and rot quickly now?

I know it sounds like a lot of trouble for a pumpkin, but it was a special pumpkin that DD8 spent a lot of time picking out, and we would like to "save" it. ;)

Rub Vaseline on the exposed area every day and it won't get icky. It protects it as the skin would. If you do this when you carve the pumpkin as well (along the carved areas) it will help it last longer, too.
