Veronica in VA
IEW is an excellent writing course, especially if your child struggles in writing. There are many others that people here have used, also. Veronica
SwimmerMom
I do agree that IEW is an excellent writing course. However, Bean felt very restricted by the constant use of dress-ups and her writing actually got worse during our time with IEW. It was like she got so hung up on getting all the dress-ups in there, she forgot how to make a point. We have spent a number of years with Brave Writer finding her "voice" and teaching her to play with words: to use them like building blocks to build interesting pictures. Her real breakthrough came this year with TOG's Writing Aids program. She gained so much confidence this year and her writing (excepting her comma usage, which are fixing) is a joy to read now. You likely won't find Brave Writer at a conference, but here is a link to their website. TOG should be there, though. :)
