Chez J Posted September 7, 2011 Share Posted September 7, 2011 This year I've decided to have dd complete CLE Reading 7 and 8 because each is really only a half-year study if used stand-alone. She will complete CLE LA 7 this year. I would like to use Omnibus I next year. Plus she will have IEW writing at her co-op two days a week. I think (but not sure) the plan next year is for them to use Elegant Essay. DD will be 7th grade age, but in 8th grade at co-op. Would CLE English I be overkill with that? Heather in VA Posted September 7, 2011 Share Posted September 7, 2011 I don't know anything about CLE LA so I don't know if I'm understanding your question or not. Omnibus has no LA instruction. It has writing assignments but it doesn't teach a student to write or teach grammar/usage etc. It is literature but not "English" per se. We use Omnibus I and II with Analytical Grammar and Classical Writing. By Omnibus III (9th grade) AG is done but we continue with Classical Writing. Currently my oldest is doing Omnibus V but no grammar or CW because she's done with grammar studies and has used all of the available CW programs.
