Swollen gland after dental cleaning?

Recommended Posts

Has this ever happened to anyone? DH had a deeper dental cleaning last week and this week his glands/lymph nodes are swollen, I think. They feel swollen and the left side looks swollen when you look at him. He is calling the dentist tomorrow. We've never had this experience before, but he's also never had a cleaning done like that before. Just wondering if anyone else knows anything about this.

it can happen even with a regular cleaning. cleanings stir up bacteria in the mouth, and if there is a break in the skin, and the bacteria enters - viola, lymph nodes needing to fight a potential infection.

some health problems strongly urge antibiotics three days before a cleaning to prevent it.
