Timeline ??? -- waiting until the end of SOTW 1

Hi all! My boys are in first grade and I've been debating whether to start a notebook timeline when we start SOTW in 2 weeks. I was planning to do it as we go along, but I'm wondering if it might be better (even more fun when we don't have a full load) to do it during the summer as a review of SOTW 1. Anyone tried this? Pros/cons?

A timeline? Completely forgot to do that this year! (SOTW 1, two girls.) But that would make an excellent review when gearing up for our new year.

Reviewing SOTW1? We just did our review for the year using timeline cards that someone here on WTM made for SOTW1. We printed them all out and hung them up. Might be easier than doing a whole timeline.

Thank you Angela, that's a good idea! I was thinking my kids should do their own though, in order to get the benefit of hands on. We have the review cards, and I was just going to discuss them briefly one at a time, sequentially, to see what they remember. Then they would put them in their book. (I haven't looked at your suggestions yet so this may not make sense.)

I've been stressing a bit that we haven't done a timeline yet (using the software we spent so much money on!). We're into SOTW3 now. Then I noticed that SWB recommends timelines as an activity more appropriate to the logic stage. Whew! I've got a little more time!
