Momma H
Does anyone like it? What level is it that starts pre-algebra? Does it just jump right into algebra? If so what level is that? Is it good? Is it clear and understandable? Thanks all!
kangato3
We haven't used it, so I hope other posters chime in. I've read that Light Units 7 and 8 give a thorough preparation for Algebra. The only reason that I haven't used them for those levels is that we like to start Algebra with 8th grade, and I'm not sure if there would be gaps going from LU 7 to Algebra. Renaissance Mom
We did CLE Math 700 plus the two LOF prealgebra books for prealgebra last year. The curriculum experts at CLE say you need both 700 and 800 before going into Algebra 1. I'm sure the 800 series would add another layer and provide the additional practice to really cement the concepts. However, we're going to TT Algebra 1 supplemented with LOF Beginning Algebra this year and there are no gaps that we've found. The primary reason we switched from CLE was simply continuity. They have no timeframe for the Sunrise edition of Algebra 2 so we would have been stranded after Algebra 1. Their current Alpha Omega lifepac version of Algebra 2 is so not what we would want. HTH. Mommyfaithe
This is my plan as well....we are going from CLE 700 with the 2 LoF books for pre algebra this year....and then beginning TT 1 & LoF beg. Algebra. I am sure CLE algebra is thorough...but I hate the old AO version of light units. Faithe
Jen+4dc
My dd finished the 700 level of CLE and only the 1st LOF Pre-Algebra (the one with Biology). Then, she started Jacob's Algebra and she's doing fine. She's not a particularly mathy kid. HTH
Tiramisu
Wow. Lots of people are using CLE and Fred. I'm shocked. I don't think dd could swing both programs. Not that it doesn't sound appealing. I think she'd love Fred, but I think she needs CLE. How do you manage both?
Jen+4dc
My dd did CLE 4 days a week and LOF (2 chapters) one day a week.
