1Togo
Does anyone have directions for calculating weighted grades; i.e. a certain percentage for quizzes and a certain percentage for tests; i.e. unit tests and then finals?
regentrude
You will find that opinions vary widely and that there is no one single formula. For my homeschool, I base the grade on one comprehensive semester exam and do not give grades for anything else. For my college classes, 2/3 of the points come from tests, 1/3 from homework and quizzes. I do this simply by making the tests worth more points. (In case you wonder why the difference: I do not like it, but must give quizzes and grade homework to give an incentive for reading the text and completing assignments. At home, I can make sure that the kids do the reading and homework without giving grade rewards.) Basically, you can come up with ANY formula that you feel reflects your student's performance.
