LillianinAL
Hi Sue, I think I remember you like a combination of MUS and Singapore Challenging Word Problems for elementary. Do you do this through Pre-Algebra? What do you go to after that for Algebra on up? Thanks, Lillian
Sunshine State Sue
We used MUS from K through Algebra. I learned about CWP late, so we only used the last 3 books. Here's what we did (we schooled year round until sometime in middle school): Epsilon + CWP 4 Zeta + CWP 5 Pre-Algebra + CWP 6 If I had a do-over, I'd start CWP earlier. With MUS Algebra, we used LoF Algebra (a mistake - I wish I had used Patty Paper Geometry instead). Ds completed MUS Algebra in 7th grade. It was a year of raging puberty and teenage brain fog. I decided to repeat Algebra. In 8th grade, we used Foerster's Algebra and Patty Paper Geometry. In 9th grade, we used Discovering Geometry (by the same author as PPG) after a failed attempt at Jacob's Geometry. In 10th grade, he will be dual enrolling at CC for Intermediate Algebra followed by College Algebra. Had we continued at home, I probably would have continued with Foerster's. HTH! LillianinAL
Thank you Sue, for both your replies. My oldest ds used MUS through Pre Algebra, then Foerster's Algebra. I'm planning on Jacobs Geometry with him next. Second ds had a hard time with MUS P-A and wasn't ready for it, so he's done Saxon 8/7 to have some growing time. I'm looking at Jacobs Algebra for him or going back to MUS. I'm thinking that Foerster's would be too much, but I'm not sure.
