Travel Snacks?

Recommended Posts

prepackaged, individual packs of:

---nuts (not peanuts)

---dried fruit

---museli bars / granola bars

---crackers (bring those single serve PB, jam, etc. to top the crackers)

---hard candies or peppermints

***a water bottle (with a filter if you are traveling to an area where the quality of the water is questionable)

I prepare a gallon size ziploc bag with a selection of the above snacks for each person to carry in their carry-on. The single serve spreads will have to be put in your quart-size ziploc of liquids for going through security, but the other things should be OK. Don't try to take homemade snacks for the trip back as you might have trouble getting it past customs in some countries. For the trip there you might want to fix a bag of homemade "lunchables." Just plan to throw away any meat, cheese, etc. in the amisty bins before customs. I did this on the last trip overseas with ds#2. We packed a lunch bag with mini hoagi rolls, lunch meats (ham, roast beef, etc.) & cheese in small ziploc bags, single serve mayo / ketchup / mustard / etc , crackers / cookies in single serve bags, small paper plates, plastic silverware, napkins, wetwipes, etc. We fixed a snack or light lunch when we were hungry. Domestic flights no longer provide meals & we had 2 lay-overs en-route, so bringing our own meals was our best choice. We threw away the last of the meat/cheese/fruit when we landed in NZ.

Blessings,
