American History for the very young

A Living History of Our World vs. Elemental History - what's your opinion based on what you can see online? My DD is a rising 1st grader and we have decided to switch to American history instead of Ancients because we will be going overseas in the next year or two and she will likely be entering an international school in Chiang Mai.

I can't decide between these two!! Living History looks a bit more "meaty" to me, but Elemental History is so much cheaper, and I can get an e-book which means fewer books to pack if we end up leaving in the middle of this school year.

Any suggestions? Or any other American History curricula for youngsters that I have missed?

Thanks in Advance!

Beth

I bought A Living History in the spring for my third and K girls. Now that I see Elemental, if it were just for a K or first grader, I would do Elemental just due to the price and simplicity. However, ALH is great for my older DD. My younger just needs more help with it.
