kolamum
I've seen Google Books referred to soooo many times and how one can read or obtain books there. I've presumed "freely".. So, can someone explain how it works? I don't get it. :D
laundrycrisis
They are pdf files of books that are in the public domain or that have been put there with the copyright owner's permission.
SunD
Go to http://books.google.com. That is the address for "Google Books". Search for something you're looking for, like that neat grammar text you've seen mentioned here. Be aware that the full books that are freely downloadable are going to be books in the public domain (so old, published before 1923, like Project Gutenberg or similar). The newest bestsellers aren't going to be there (but there may be a few pages of excerpts). Click "advanced search" and you can specify that you only want to see these full books, search by author, date published, etc. Once you find and open a book, you might decide you want to keep it. In the upper right hand corner, there will be a download link. Some are only available in PDF, but for some you can also choose EPUB (if you have a Nook or other EPUB-reading ereader, you could then load that file onto it). If you want a hard copy, you have to print it. That's pretty much all you need to know to get started!
