Classical Country Mama
I'm planning to start a foreign language with dd in 2nd grade this fall, but I cannot for the life of me decide which one. Opinions--especially strong ones which put me out of my misery by telling me what to do--welcome. Spanish: My sister, already fluent in Spanish, married a native Spanish speaker, and their kids are enrolled in a Spanish immersion school, so that would be a huge plus. However, I don't speak it myself, so we'd be learning together. French: On the other hand, I do speak French. But I would be the only person for dd to practice with or hear speaking it. And while yes, I realize introducing a language at this age is not in the same category as an irreversible tattoo, I'm still in torment. Help please? :willy_nilly: Edited May 4, 2011 by Classical Country Mama
Virg
I think Spanish would be best since you have a fluent speaker :) That is usually the hardest part to get unless you can afford a tutor.
Irishmommy
I vote Spanish. They will want to talk about cool stuff with their cousins, which is why we are doing RS Japanese as well as Latin!
HappyCamper
I third Spanish. I bet that your background in French will be enough to get you through and it will be really fun to share a language with the cousins.
