Help me choose a history or geography!

Recommended Posts

I am at a loss - I am not sure what I want for our history or geography next year. I only do one or the other and so I need opinions on both. This is what I would like:

*Some Christian influence but I dont want it to be totally about missions - something with a nice mix of religion and history.

*Something multi level that would work for both 3rd and 6th grades.

*Online program could be considered even if they each had to have their own level - something like abeka academy maybe?

*We like hands on things to do whether thats reports, project/crafts.

Any ideas?

While it doesn't have Christian influence (so far as I know), you might want to look at Kingfischer Atlas of the Ancient World, Medieval World, Exploration and Empires, and Modern World (or puchase the World History all-in-one volume with the same contents in one book).....it combines the geography and history into a single source/spine to use, so you're covering both history and geography without much fuss. It's not as in-depth as Story of the World with its Activity Guide, but could work well - you'd just need to come up with project ideas and activities to do along with the book.

haha, its not your fault I have not learned all the lingo yet but thank you for posting those links. I could not figure out what HO was! haha.

I will take a look at these.

As far as what era - I am flexible in that but I know my kids would love to learn about egytian history. I would like to teach them of the early america so really either of those I would be happy with.
